Mother: Leiya, Trader, deceased
Half-brother: Valen, 19
Half-sister: Elaya, 18
Physical Appearance:
Standing at a meager 5'4" there isn't a whole lot to Ariya. At first glance she comes off as rather average, having the typical dark hair and olive skin of most Pernese, though she does have finer features. She has more of a subtle beauty that's hidden by her more tomboyish nature. Long dark brown hair frames a small but elegant, oval shaped face. She has medium toned skin from near twenty turns spent under the sun. A pair of almond shaped dark hazel-blue eyes dominate that elegantly featured face. Those eyes are the real way to see what this young lady is thinking because said hazel-blue orbs show every emotion even when her face doesn't give it away. She's got a lean build, being trim and fit from her life as a rider. She also has a naturally high metabolism which helps keep her leaner.
Thankfully she has enough curves (a generous amount in her opinion) to let people know she is female thank you very much. She's quite muscular as another asset of life as a rider and living in the wild and thus is much stronger than she appears. She's not one to be taken lightly but her overall rather delicate appearance makes it hard for people to not want to protect her. Few scars decorate her and the ones she has are namely defense wounds save for an ugly scar across her back that she got at a hatching trying to get away from a hatchling. As far as clothing goes she tends to keep it simple and practical. After living life in a caravan old habits die hard. She likes to be able to move freely in her clothes and not be restricted.
Personality:
When you first meet this young woman you can tell immediately she's not the girly type. A serious, arrogant demeanor greets any stranger and most are not spared of her sarcastic tongue. She's extremely blunt as well which often rubs people the wrong way. She's also very independent and doesn't take orders well at all. She has also inherited a reckless streak from her father that her reckless half-brother only encouraged. Her rebellious streak is about as big as Pern is wide and often gets her into trouble. She also has times when she goes into a deep depression most often when she misses Jestavith. She's learned to lean on Kezalith a lot over the years because of her loss. She's not the easiest person to get along with when you first meet her. If you get past the barriers she's put up then you'll find a rather likable person.
As bold as brass, Ariya is not one to take things sitting down. She likes action and despises being idle. She is a loyal friend and if you are in trouble she'll defend you until you can either laugh about it over a drink or she has enough targets to avenge you. She also has a brain under that head of dark hair and one she knows how to use. She's smart and she enjoys challenges, probably another thing that she got from her brother. She also has a big protective streak and if someone she knows is in danger or being threatened woe betide the one doing the threatening or harming. She has a flash-fire temper that's as bad as a gold but she's quicker to forgive than forget. She's also a secret romantic but only her immediate family knows that she wants a guy to come and sweep her off her feet someday.
Keyword someday.
History:
It all started when a Trader caravan visited Benden weyr. The young Trader woman, Leiya, met the young but promising Brownrider Ar’len at the market where the caravan was selling its wares. They flirted casually at first, not knowing that fate had something else in store for them. The Senior gold rose and Ar’len’s brown chased. Merdorth didn’t win and Ar’len had to find another way to relieve the lust pounding in his veins. He found his way to the caravan where Leiya was and well one thing led to another. They went their separate ways in the morning, though Leiya had wanted to stay with the charming rider. Her father wouldn’t allow it, seeing as how he’d planned to have her marry well within the caravan. The Traders left and a month or so later Leiya found she was pregnant. When her parents found this out, they married her to an older man in the caravan, Devlyn. A few months later, Leiya gave birth to a healthy baby girl that Leiya named Ariya.
From the start, Ariya was a rambunctious child, always getting into some mischief or another. It only got worse when her younger brother was old enough to toddle around after her. Valen was just as rowdy as his older half-sister if not worse. Ariya had always loved the outdoors, so when she announced at the age of eight she wanted to apprentice to a craft, her parents were expecting her to apprentice to the Beast craft. They were not expecting her to want to be a hunter. They were hesitant at first, mainly because they wanted her to be sure it was what she wanted, but after some convincing they agreed to allow it. She seemed to take to it quite easily, being a quick learner and attentive student. For four turns she studied all the ins and outs of the trade, learning all she could from her teacher. Then a search dragon from Quindell Weyr appeared at their caravan. The green’s rider claimed there were some possible candidates among them and all the children were called forward.
Ariya was among those chosen.
At first she wasn’t sure how she felt being in the Weyr. It was restricting to a girl who’d known so much freedom for most of her life. She did enjoy being near the dragons though and spent a lot of time learning about them. She stood at a gold’s clutch at fourteen turns, where a striking red and green hatched at the same time. The green got stuck in her shell and called to Ariya for help. Jestavith she said her name was and Ariya went to help her dragon. Only, she got in the way of the red’s frantic searching, getting bowled over and severely clawed on her back in the process. It was all Jestavith needed to get free of her shell, though the green didn’t go after the red. Instead the two dragonets accidentally crossed paths and got into a scuffle. Ariya had gotten to her feet and was on her way to break it up when Jestavith and the red both let out horrifying screeches. Before anyone could do anything they blinked between. Ariya felt the break in her bond immediately, letting out an agonized cry of disbelief and horror. She collapsed on the sands and blacked out, waking up in the infirmary. She spent several long months there recovering physically, though the mental anguish escalated daily.
The night she was released from the infirmary she ran away into the woods. For the next three turns or so she avoided humans like the plague, living off the land with her skills as a hunter. There were several times she wanted to end her life, though ironically she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Then, at eighteen she stumbled upon a minor hold as a searchrider was arriving. They were from Benden and, upon seeing her, the blue immediately announced she’d make a good candidate. It physically hurt just to be near the blue and Ariya would have refused until she realized that the blue’s rider was her younger half-sister. She brought her to Benden, where Ariya had a couple of sevenday to recover before the senior gold’s clutch hatched. Actually the dragonless had no plans to actually stand and might have missed the hatching all together if it hadn’t been for her half-sister.
Elaya pretty much drug Ariya there by her hair, just as a striking Purple hatched. Ariya froze as the dragon made her way over, moving with a feline-like grace despite just being hatched. She couldn’t take her eyes off the dragonet and was thunderstruck when the hatchling sat in front of her.
Ariya, my dear, you’re being quite rude staring like that. the hatchling commented and added, Besides, your Kezalith is hungry. You’re not going to let me starve now are you? With that Ariya was leading her new dragon to be fed. They made it through Weyrling lessons in one piece thankfully and with only a few mishaps. Barely two months after graduation, Kezalith rose in her maiden flight. She was caught by an older brown, with an experienced rider who was gentler with Ariya. The experience still shook the young woman, who was not experienced with the opposite sex at all. The brownrider told her though, that he wasn’t expecting anything to come of their relationship unless she wanted it. So when Kezalith turned up egg-heavy they decided to get to know each other as friends. Kez laid a small clutch of nine, only two of which ended up being duds. The rest hatched and impressed with the exception of a smaller green who couldn’t find hers and went between. Shortly after, Ariya requested a transfer to Quindell Weyr, needing a change of pace. She’d heard they were in need of a candidate master and offered to fill the job for them.
We’ll see how that goes.
Dragon
Name: Kezalith
Color: Purple; 660066-base and 9966CC-markings
Size: 37 ft
Age: 3
Physical Appearance:
37 ft . Dark purple with lighter tribal markings on her face, tiger stripes on her body . lean build . broad wings . built more for endurance than agility . plenty of feminine curves . muscular but not enough to take away from her feminity . feline quality to her movements
At 37 feet in length, Kezalith is on the longer end for her rank, though when standing beside other Purples, it becomes apparent this lady is much more streamlined. She definitely has a leaner build than most of her rank, though she's not lacking in muscle in the least. While she is more agile than a lot of Purples, she's still built more for endurance than acrobatics. She's learned to leave the fancy tricks to the greens and blues. Still she has plenty of curves in all the right places, with wide hips perfect for clutching eggs. Broad wings help her stay aloft for hours along with the ability to 'feel' out the air currents.
Needless to say she loves flying.
As far as coloration goes, this Purple has a rather simple dark purple base stretching evenly across her hide. Its her markings that make her stand out. To start, intricate designs in a tribal-like pattern decorate her face, as if a tribal artist was allowed to be as creative as they wanted to be. These markings extend about halfway down her neck before trailing off. Along her back lay thick stripes, mimicking a tiger's stripes. They end at her flanks and the tribal-like pattern picks back up down her tail.
Personality:
Regal . Confident . Loyal . Adventurous . Motherly . Nurturing . Protective . Territorial
A regal, confident creature, Kezalith carries herself with a certain pride that matches any gold's. She's nothing less than a lady and has been trying to get hers to do the same. Needless to say this hasn't quite worked out yet. Kezalith is a loyal dragon and if you're under her protection, she'll do what is in her power to help you how she can. Of course her rider comes first. She's fiercely protective of what she considers hers and is often called territorial. Surprising thing is? She'll agree with you on that. She is also a very motherly sort, having to look after her rider when Ariya gets into one of her moods. Because of this, she has a certain nurturing aspect to her. Ironically, though, with others she's more prone to giving tough love.
