1. The owner of the female runs the flight and chooses the winner. Greens rise two-to-four times a turn, the other colors tend to rise once a turn or every other turn, though not all flights need to be RP'd.
2. Greens are rendered sterile by chewing firestone early in weyrlinghood, so are not allowed to clutch. Female dragons that will have on-screen clutches must have permission before rising. If you want the clutch to be duds or take place off-screen, they can rise anytime. Greens do not need permission to rise, but try not to have too many happening at once.
3. The owner of the mother is allowed to run the clutch and hatching. I will choose the number and contents of the eggs and decide which, if any, are duds, but the owner is free to design the resulting hatchlings and suggest who Impresses what, though the final decision is up to me. If they wish, they can allow other members to design hatchlings or turn the entire thing over to staff. Alternatively, the clutch can just take place off-screen and be ignored.
4. Candidates must be posted in at least one RP thread before the hatching starts. This can be a lesson thread or a regular RP thread, as long as I can get a sense of how they act. Lessons are not mandatory, before or after Impression, though there'll usually be at least one for those who want to participate; also, you get marks for participating. Even if you don't post your candidate in the lesson, they will be assumed to have attended unless stated otherwise. Don't hesitate to suggest things you'd like to see played out in candidate/weyrling lessons.
Candidates must also show up at the hatching to Impress. If the candidate has not been played, or only gets played after the hatching has started, they will be left standing, whether they show up to the hatching itself or not.
5. Candidates may be mauled at hatchings; this will not happen without your permission, that's why there's a section on the candidate form for it.
6. Most dragons tend to favor candidates of their own gender to Impress to, but cross-gender Impressions are not uncommon, particularly among the more common greens and blues. Sexuality is not linked to Impression, and flightsex is generally considered to be completely separate from a rider's normal preference, though stand-ins are commonly used too. Also, dragons of younger weyrlings may take longer to rise or chase if their rider is not mentally/physically ready for it, so a 13-turn-old greenrider's dragon might not rise until s/he's 17 or 18.
7. Candidates are paired mostly based on personality, taking into account the preferences listed on the candidate form. I will do my best to avoid giving your candidate something you specifically asked not to receive on the form; however, nobody is perfect, and also, I am not a mind reader. If you don't want your character Impressing a blue and it's not mentioned on the form, you may end up with a blue (or green, etc.). Do not rely on IC actions and opinions to get the point across, because the IC preferences of your candidates are only very loosely taken into account.
That said, I can make mistakes. If you honestly feel that the dragon you have been given would never have Impressed your character and you don't feel you can play it, talk to me and we may be able to work something out. Do at least try to give it a chance, though; you may find that things work out better than you think.
8. On a related note, feel free to specify the colors of dragons you would prefer to Impress. I'll try my best to honor them, but keep in mind that the more limited the selection you allow, the longer they'll be waiting to Impress. If you submit a candidate who's queen or nothing, she might Impress or she might age out of candidacy long before the right dragon comes along.
9. Candidates and weyrlings are discouraged from having intimate relationships until their dragon is at least a turn old, and a pregnant woman is automatically barred from Impression. This is because it is thought that such activities would put too much stress on the young dragons and cause them to go between.
